What is your name?  Kayla

What is your role at OSC? I am an Infusion Nurse, Registered Nurse, BSN. I have been with OSC for 3 years

What is your Educational Background? I grew up in the Charlotte area and went to UNC-Charlotte for my Bachelors of Science in Nursing. I was inducted into the International Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau ΣΘΤ

Why did you choose to work in Healthcare and/or Oncology/Hematology? I became interested in nursing when I was 13 and I was hit by a car while walking home. My home nurse who cared for me made a huge impact on my desire to enter nursing. I wasn’t expecting to be an oncology nurse, but it happened when I went to a rounding activity. This was similar to the 5-minute lunch speed dating, but where you make an impression on the healthcare interviewers. The oncology team called me back. I also worked for a year in ICU and then went back to oncology where I worked at Levine Cancer in the bone marrow transplant unit.

What are your hobbies and interests? Golf. My husband and I are avid golfers. We also like Putt-Putt and trivia. I met my husband at trivia night at a bar where we both were there with mutual friends. I am very family-oriented and enjoy time with extended family. We treasure a walk in the park with our 15-month-old son. We are expecting a second child, a brother for our toddler, in November

What do you find most unique about OSC?  We are family-oriented with our care and even the employees are literally family. We have 5 sets of mother-daughters working at our practice.

What is in your Netflix queue? I don’t watch Netflix, but we watch One Tree Hill series

Beach or Mountains? Mountains. We go to Lake Lure, NC every year.

If you were to go to medical school and become a doctor, what type of medical doctor would you be?  An OB/GYN physician

What was your favorite cartoon when you were a child? Rugrats
