Pictured: Angel with her 1-year-old daughter

What is your name?
Angel L.

What is your role at OSC?
Registered Medical Assistant, RMA. I go to both offices and work with the physicians and nurse practitioners to round patients and coordinate care.

Where did you grow up and where have you lived?
I grew up in NY city area, south Jamaica in Queens. When I was 8, we moved to Charlotte. I went to Independence High School. After high school, I had to figure out what I wanted to do. I like working with people, so I thought healthcare would be ideal. I went to Kaplan College in Charlotte and got my RMA.

What is your path working in healthcare?
I was working at Novant Health in the pediatric gastro field. My friend DeeDee who I worked with before she came to work at OSC, mentioned that OSC was expanding and needed medical assistants to round patients. I wanted to expand my skills. I am excited to be in a career where I work with patients in a more comprehensive care model for many aspects of making them well. I enjoy doing the labs, which was something my former job did not involve.

What is your favorite childhood cartoon?
The Rugrats. Tommy was my fav. He is so cute!…. he’s the baby wearing the diaper in the series

What’s one “Good” habit you maintain?
Praying. I pray when I go to bed and when I wake up each morning.
